Raise your hand if you have a tendency to catch the business trends right at the end? Well… 2020 is already here, so if you’re currently on the brink of “OMG I don’t what to do next”, here are a few things to consider for 2020.
The Times They Are A-Changin’
– Bob Dylan
Before we get started, my absolute BIGGEST takeaway: People want more personal experiences. Don’t worry you’ll understand. Keep reading.
#1 – Businesses are becoming more ‘Green’ and/or Socially Responsible
According to a report from Gallup Reported in 2019 people actually care about climate change and social impact. YAYA Social Responsibility. Brands are looking into CSR initiatives (corporate social responsibility) more.
- Millennials’ concerns about global warming are at a high point.
- A climate-focused corporate social responsibility may be meaningful to younger generations.
- If a company’s effort is false or half-hearted, it may drive people away.
So this posts the big question, are you willing to create more impact and add some social responsibility to your brand? – Is this something you have considered?
If you do want to know more about this. Join my FREE Facebook Group: Passionate and Purposeful Entrepreneur. I share more info on how to make this happen. This is exactly why my brand a “Social Enterprise”. A percentage of my profit goes to a social or environmental cause.
#2 – Mobile Marketing vs. Traditional Website
What does this mean?
Companies are investing more in geo-targeting mobile apps for ads. Plus they aren’t creating websites anymore, they are creating mobiles. Mobile Traffic has increased to 222% in the last 5 years! That is HUGE!
Why waste money on a fancy website when you can create a fancy app and get way more traffic and usage?
Go ahead… argue about it because listen, I do have a website and I do still think it’s important. However, the majority of my users see my website from their phone – the numbers don’t lie.
#3 – Reviews OVER ANYTHING.
Remember when you had the first retail job? Your boss told you, “the customer is always right.” You used to nod your head and silently think, “Bullshit!” Well, guess what? He’s right!
Reviews matter and you know who proves that time and time again?
Two little websites called Google & Yelp.
It’s now more important than anything else to make sure your customer reviews are in tip-top shape before spending money on Yelp and/or Google because regardless of how much you spend if you have ONE bad review, no one will buy OR trust your business.
#4 – Leverage E-commerce if you’re a traditional brick-and-mortar business.
This is very interesting to me.
Brick-and-mortar business is taking its specialties and selling them online. Not only to expand their reach, but also their income. For example, let’s say you own a small furniture store. ver the years’ people come in for your handmade Christmas ornaments. Well, now you can create a bunch of them and put them on Esty, Instagram Shop, or Facebook to sell during the holiday season.
#5 – Lives + Stories + Real Content FOR THE WIN.
YES YES YES!! That’s right, no more are the perfect filters. People want raw, real and authentic videos of people expressing themselves and showing up off the cusp.
There’s a big reason why TikTok might really be the next big ‘Instagram’. If you’re a business owner or personal brand listen up; If you aren’t on Instagram and showing your life, you’re failing. #sorrynotsorry
If you aren’t using Facebook, Linkedin or YouTube live stream, you’re failing #truth.
People want MORE real human connections so give them what they want!
Seeing a trend here?
People want authentic, real, personal experiences when it comes to working with businesses, buying from businesses or collaborating with businesses in 2020. The more you show the REAL part of you and your business, the better chance you have of staying ahead of the game and not having FOMO in 2020.
