Whats is a blogger?
“A blog is a discussion or informational website published on the World Wide Web consisting of discrete, often informal diary-style text entries.”
In the short term, a “blogger” is someone who is writing and creating the content for a blog.
Starting a blog 101:
You can make money off a blog. As a blog is just the tool you use to let people know you’re an expert!
By putting your name out there and branding your content you have a better chance at being able to compete with other similar entrepreneurs. Not only will blogging allow you to create a platform to brand yourself as an individual but it will also allow you to test out what you want to do and the natural evolution of your content will allow you to help you hone your brand. Finding your online community can also be crucial to the long term success of a business that is centered around selling expertise and connecting people together. But where do you begin?
Step 1- Figure out what you want to write about? Get crystal clear on what and who you’re writing to. About hat.
Step 2- Buy the domain. Finding a hosting company like GoDaddy.com or BlueHost.com.
Step 3- Pick a platform to create your website. When picking a website, make sure to pick with the intention of what you want to want the long term goal of this website to be about.
Step 4- Create a strategy. having a consistent content will build up the familiarity that you need in order to maintain and grow your brand. If your people like what they see and it remains familiar they will stick around for more.
Before you go live with your site you should choose when you plan to post each week. Once or twice a week you should post new material. It doesn’t always have to be a full-fledged article but it should be fresh material and again, it should be material that your readers will get used to. It should also be published on the same day each week. For example, if you want to post one article and your site will also feature some of your photography- you should post an article every Tuesday.
Things To ALWAYS Remember:
Content does not have to be perfect– it’s important to make sure that basic editing is done but your content should be authentic. I want people to see exactly who I am and really pay attention to what I am saying. It’s more important to me that the people who work with me see who I really am and what I stand for than it is for people to have this false idea that I am perfect. The imperfections of your content will show all of them exactly that, plus it’s important to understand that there is a balance. You obviously have something to say, and there are people out there who need to hear it! So pipe up and spend less time editing and more time reaching people with your content!
You’ve heard “your vibe will attract your tribe,” and it’s true but you also have to send a few smoke signals ya know? Learn how to market your content. Find hashtags that work for you, have social media accounts that are linked to your blog, partner and advertise for similar or partnering companies or writers… Make sure you are meeting people and networking with people in person as well.Lastly, remember that not everyone is going to like your content and that’s ok! Not everyone likes everything and even if someone does like your blog that doesn’t mean that they will enjoy your approach to writing about it.. Everyone has different opinions and different interests and that’s ok. Sometimes people will even go out of their way to tell you that they don’t like your content and even give you reasons why or say things to discourage you. Just remember they are sitting at home reading your blog and judging your content instead of putting their own out there. Maybe your content isn’t for them but learn to graciously manage the followers you don’t want in order to continue attracting and keeping the followers you do want.
Don’t let it get to you. You are one step closer to your dreams by just getting started and every expert was once a beginner. Stay focussed and good luck!!
