Are you worried about what’s going to happen to your Instagram growth when Instagram officially removes the ‘LIKES’ on Instagram?
Yes?
Stop right now.
Seriously.
Remember, it’s always about quality over quantity.
If you’re the kind of person/business owner/content creator who stresses over ‘likes’ as if this determines who the ‘coolest girl/boy in school’ is, you are doing it all wrong.
Social media isn’t about that.
It’s about creating connections and engaging with people on a GLOBAL LEVEL.
This statement may piss you off but it needs to be said. If you’re posting on social media for ‘likes’ you need to delete your account. ‘Likes’ don’t make you better or worse than anyone else, they build engagement.
Do you know what else builds MORE engagement?
Do you know what brands REALLY look at?
Instagram Stories and Comments [shocker… like you haven’t heard this before… but never take the advice… still worried about those pesky ‘likes’, I see]
That’s right.
Instagram Stories and Comments.
What you should be worried about is if you’re creating REAL connections with your audience. Asking questions in STORIES and captions.
Psychologically this is probably the best thing Instagram has ever done. I think it’s brilliant and they should probably be away with ‘likes’ altogether, however, to add more numbers to engagement they need ‘likes’ to prove to brands/ companies their ROI.
The CEO of Instagram shared, “the idea is to depressurize Instagram.” What does this mean? Not only is it going to take the pressure off the younger generation but it’s going to create a space that leans more towards connection, community, and REAL conversations.
MY PREDICTIONS
If you’re a small business.
Start posting to engage and create SHAREABLE content. Ask your audience what they want and read about. If you create quality over quality, you’ll grow just the same.
If you’re an influencer, it’s probably going to be less stressful from the public’s eye. People can’t see your ‘likes’. However, it isn’t going to change your interactions with brands.
Don’t lie, they can see those numbers.
Plus, no one likes a liar.
Start asking questions, engaging and creating shareable VALUABLE content.
ALL IN ALL…
Nothing is going to happen.
We will get used to it.
Like you do in business.
You adapt.
It’s probably one of the first things I learned in Business School. – Solve a problem and adapt.
We will all need to just step it up a notch and focus on creating content that is engagement, teachable, and shareable. Easy peasy, right?
Comment below and let me know what you guys think about this change and if you AGREE OR DISAGREE?
What are you most nervous about?
I love this post, I recently seen a blogger post a photo then later posted another saying how disappointed she was as it had received a lot less likes than most of her other photos it’s sad when you get to that point I think.
